Missouri United Methodist Church Addition
Type of work: Geotechnical Engineering,
Subsurface exploration for this building addition in downtown Columbia, Missouri, encountered low strength alluvial soil deposits over Pennsylvanian claystone. Settlement estimates indicated spread footing support was not feasible and removal and replacement was not cost effective nor considered practical in this highly trafficked area. Allstate Consultants recommended the building be supported on drilled shafts socketed into the underlying claystone and followed through with construction observation services during drilled shaft installation.
