Bass Pro Shops & Centerstate
Type of work: Geotechnical Engineering,
Bass Pro Shops is part of the 90 acre Centerstate development in Columbia, Missouri. The Centerstate project also included Furniture Row, Lone Star, Ruby Tuesday, Hilton Garden Inn, retail shops and streets as well as a US Highway 63 overpass and interchange. Controlled mass grading for buildings involved over 500,000 cubic yards of earthwork with compacted fills that were up to 35 feet thick at the Bass Pro Shops site. Fills were surcharged to accelerate settlements prior to Bass Pro Shops construction and economical spread footings were used for support. During mass grading, a depression era dam was rehabilitated and a 6 acre deposit of water bearing glacial sand was drained using a system of subsurface drains installed with a specialized Hollandrain trencher. Allstate Consultants staff members performed the geotechnical investigations and construction testing for the Bass Pro Shops and Centerstate development.
