Type of work: Geotechnical Engineering,
Subsurface exploration for this concrete tilt-up building in Columbia, Missouri encountered stiff glacial clay soils with shallow water bearing silt and sand lenses. To avoid extending foundation excavations into the water bearing deposits, it was recommended the floor elevation be raised some 4 feet. This allowed shallow spread footings to be feasible for building support and a slab on grade to be used on a nominal low volume change zone. Insulated and reinforced concrete tilt-up wall panel construction was utilized. Allstate followed our geotechnical investigation with soil and concrete testing throughout the construction stage.
